These motors are specifically engineered for underground mining environments. They are widely used as the cutting drive system in coal shearers due to their high safety margins and robust physical structure.
This is the explosion protection rating. "Ex" represents explosion protection; "d" denotes a flameproof construction type; "Ⅰ" indicates Electrical Apparatus Class I, which is designed for environments susceptible to firedamp (coal mines); and "Mb" denotes the equipment protection level (EPL).
These motors cover a wide power output spectrum from 22 kW up to 1100 kW. They support standard mine voltages including 380V, 660V, 1140V, and 3300V at 50Hz frequency.
They utilize the IC3W7 cooling method, which is a liquid/water-jacket cooling system. This enables the motor to maintain normal operating temperatures in confined environments. The ingress protection ratings are IP55 or IP67, providing outstanding defense against water and dust.
These motors are rated for indoor operation at altitudes up to 1000 meters. The operational ambient temperature range is between 0°C and +40°C utilizing water cooling.
