Acquired by Wolong in 2011 (97.94% holding), ATB is one of Europe's top three motor manufacturers. It includes the highly esteemed mining specialist Morley (130-year legacy of underground explosion-proof reliability) and Laurence Scott (known for low starting-current systems for nuclear power plants and naval warships).
An industry pioneer with over a century of technology development. Brook Crompton leads the global design for premium high-efficiency and energy-saving designs (Premium "W" and "10" series) optimized for harsh and explosive hazard zones.
Established in Germany in 1882. Schorch represents the gold standard in high-output, low-loss driving technologies. Its drive systems run critical process operations in steel processing, global petrochemical lines, naval marine construction, and international pipeline transport.
Established as the world's highest market share holder for vibration motors (MVE) and specialized Ex vibration sensors. Wolong entered strategic joint operations with OLI in 1999 to cover complex bulk material handling and extraction processing.
In 2018, GE's commercial and industrial motor division joined the Wolong framework. The inclusion brings GE's extensive heavy-industry engineering archives for material processing, pulp & paper mills, and municipal water infrastructures to our custom builds.
Joining Wolong in 2015, CNE is China's largest specialized explosion-proof scientific research and manufacturing station. The enterprise underpins our supply chain with top-grade high-voltage and flameproof motor solutions.
Under the hood of Wolong's precision assemblies. We configure every component to withstand severe centrifugal forces and thermal loads.
Our rotors leverage precision-engineered squirrel cage configurations. For standard capacities, centrifugal aluminum casting and die-casting techniques ensure complete, single-piece structural integration of the bars and end rings, optimizing output torque density.
For high-capacity, high-frequency setups, we employ copper bar rotors with advanced bar securing and high-spec end ring welding protocols. Further, carbon fiber or non-magnetic alloy retaining ring designs prevent centrifugal bar deflection during high-rpm operations, ensuring vibration-free stability.
Stator coils are constructed using high-dielectric polyester films reinforced with high-density glass cloth and premium-grade mica tapes. Our automated coil manufacturing line yields uniform winding shapes prior to assembly.
The entire stator assembly is subjected to the VPI (Vacuum Pressure Impregnation) process with high-grade solventless epoxy resins. The resulting structural block offers exceptional moisture resistance, mechanical rigidity, and Class H thermal stability, preventing corona damage under rapid variable-frequency switching spikes.
Engineered using multi-physics simulation platforms that analyze structural mechanics and fluid thermal fields simultaneously. Cast from high-grade nodular iron (or fabricated steel for custom builds), our frames provide massive structural rigidity.
This rigid construction prevents resonant frequency amplification from high-speed rotation, isolates internal components from severe external mechanical impact, and ensures high heat dissipation efficiency to limit temperature rise under continuous load.
To reduce aerodynamic turbulence and runtime sound levels, we design fan covers using numerical acoustic modeling. The system includes an integrated air guide cylinder, protective windows, and specialized noise-absorbent silencer plates.
By positioning the air inlet on the side, the motor avoids rear obstructions, minimizes flow resistance, and keeps the overall acoustic output well within environmental standards. Rated at IP22, it also provides reliable contact protection against foreign objects.
Engineered to bypass international trade barriers, guaranteeing field-level safety and compliance across global jurisdictions.

Developing next-generation electric motor topologies designed for smart grid integration and higher speeds.
Transitioning high-speed designs from induction structures to rare-earth permanent magnet synchronous configurations. This shift reduces rotor heat generation and improves efficiency across a wide range of operating speeds.
Integrating vibration, current, and temperature sensors into the motor frame. These sensors provide real-time diagnostic data directly to cloud-based monitoring software, helping to prevent unscheduled maintenance down-time.
Partnering with leading bearing manufacturers to develop active magnetic suspension options for specialized compressor drives. This integration eliminates mechanical friction and lubrication requirements, enabling rotation speeds exceeding 20,000 RPM.
Improving the recyclability of stator copper and magnet materials. Our engineering centers are designing modular winding setups that simplify copper reclamation and reuse at the end of the motor’s operational life.
Technical answers to help engineering teams select the right equipment for their applications.
CE Certification confirms that the motor complies with all relevant European health, safety, and environmental protection directives. This compliance is essential for industrial equipment used in the EEA. It covers critical requirements under the Machinery Directive, Low Voltage Directive, and EMC Directive, ensuring the motor operates safely under rated industrial loads.
VFDs can cause transient voltage spikes with rapid rise times (high dV/dt), which subject stator windings to electrical stress. Our Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) process eliminates air pockets within the stator slots, replacing them with a solid layer of high-grade resin. This design prevents corona discharge and insulation breakdown, maintaining thermal performance under high-frequency operation.
Cast aluminum rotors are durable, cost-effective, and provide reliable starting torque for standard applications. However, for high-capacity or high-speed systems, copper bar rotors are often selected because copper has higher electrical conductivity. This reduces rotor losses and improves thermal efficiency. To handle the high centrifugal forces of high-speed rotation, these copper rotors are secured with specialized alloy or carbon fiber retaining rings.
Our explosion-proof motors are certified by leading international testing agencies (including Nemko, TestSafe, and CCC Ex testing centers) under ATEX and IECEx standards. The motor enclosures are designed and pressure-tested to contain any internal explosion without allowing flame or hot gas to ignite the surrounding atmosphere.
Morley specializes in robust underground coal-mining motors, while Laurence Scott focuses on specialized lower starting-current motors for power plants and naval applications. Schorch provides high-output drive packages for the chemical and refining sectors, and OLI manufactures industrial vibration motors and sensors.
