Deep dive into the structural materials and design of our high-voltage explosion-proof motors
Our rotors feature a rugged squirrel cage design. For smaller to medium frame sizes, cast aluminum rotors produced via centrifugal casting or high-pressure die-casting are used. Molten pure aluminum is poured into the slots of the rotor core, creating a single-piece construction that integrates the rotor bars and end rings. This design provides reliable torque transmission and mechanical stability.
For larger capacity, high-voltage motors, copper-bar rotors are utilized. The copper bars are secured into the rotor slots and welded to the end rings. Additionally, high-speed motors feature high-strength alloy retaining rings to prevent centrifugal deformation of the rotor winding end structure.
The stator coil is wrapped with polyester film and reinforced with glass cloth. We use low-binder mica tape with a high mica content or medium-powdered mica tape. The fully wound stator undergoes our Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) process. VPI ensures that varnish penetrates deep into all winding layers, eliminating air pockets and moisture entry.
This process provides high dielectric strength, moisture resistance, mechanical rigidity, and thermal stability (conforming to Class F insulation with Class B temperature rise, or Class H for highly demanding duties).
The motor frame is designed using digital multi-physics simulation platforms to model fluid dynamics, vibration profiles, and structural stress. Built from high-grade cast iron or fabricated structural steel, the frame has thick walls that can withstand internal gas explosions without risk of rupture (specifically for Ex d flameproof enclosures).
Deep external cooling fins optimize heat dissipation in hot Moroccan climates. The design also isolates natural frequencies to prevent resonance and keep vibration levels well within IEC limits.
