Technical SpecsAs the primary authorized distributor for Wolong Electric Drive Group Co., Ltd, Shaanxi Nanfang Motor Technology delivers robust industrial power architectures globally. Wolong, established in 1984 and publicly listed in 2002 (SH600580), has executed an aggressive global development plan resulting in 3 massive manufacturing headquarters, 39 digitalized production plants, and 3 global research institutes located in Europe, China, and Japan.
Our mandate is to merge Wolong's world-leading electro-mechanical technology with customized localized support in key growing markets like Uruguay. Through our engineering network, we provide Uruguayan industries with premium products from legacy European and American motor companies acquired under the Wolong umbrella, including Brook Crompton, Laurence Scott, Schorch, Morley, and ATB.
Wolong’s continuous growth strategy has integrated some of the world's most trusted motor technologies:
How our high-efficiency low-voltage motor solutions align with Uruguay's clean grid strategy and complex industrial requirements.
Uruguay's grid is characterized by high renewable energy penetration (wind and biomass). Our IE4 and IE5 (Ultra-Premium Efficiency) low voltage motors allow pulp mills (such as UPM Paso de los Toros and Montes del Plata) to maximize energy saving, lowering operational expenditure (OPEX) and reducing local carbon taxes.
Our motors are built with chemical-duty cast iron frames, epoxy-resin protective coatings, and high-performance IP56/IP66 sealing. This prevents damage from hydrogen sulfide (H2S), sodium hydroxide, and coastal humidity common in Uruguay's paper mills and oceanic terminals.
With modern variable frequency drives (VFD) becoming standard for Uruguayan water pump stations (OSE) and grain elevators, our entire low voltage line features insulated non-drive end bearings and VPI insulation to protect against harmonic stator breakdown.
For demanding processes such as conveyor systems carrying wood chips, heavy industrial water pumps, and grain elevators in agricultural hubs like Paysandú and Soriano, electric motors must perform continuously without mechanical drift. Wolong AC low-voltage induction motors leverage robust frame architectures, high mechanical load capacity bearings, and balanced cast aluminum rotors. This configuration handles heavy starting inertia and limits voltage sag on remote transmission networks.
We provide full structural support, alignment engineering, and custom output shafts to ensure that replacements fit directly into your plant's existing foundations. This cuts downtime and minimizes modifications to original gearboxes and fluid pumps.
A closer look at the design elements that provide our low-voltage AC motors with their legendary MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures).
Our rotors use a classic squirrel-cage design. The cast aluminum rotors are manufactured using high-pressure centrifugal aluminum casting or die-casting technology. Molten high-purity aluminum is injected directly into the slots of the laminated rotor core, producing an integrated assembly where the rotor bars and end rings form a single, solid piece. This layout provides excellent structural integrity, balanced dynamic properties, and high startup torque. For high-output applications, we use hand-welded copper bar rotors, securing each bar and using specialized end-ring welding procedures. This configuration improves conductivity, reduces heat buildup, and supports high-speed, continuous-duty operations.
Our stator coils are wound using premium grade magnetic copper wire, insulated with high-dielectric polyester film and glass-fiber reinforced tape with high mica content. The completed winding goes through a state-of-the-art Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) cycle. This process removes air and moisture from the stator slots, replacing them with a polymerized resin. This step eliminates internal air pockets, improves heat dissipation, provides high mechanical strength, and protects the winding from moisture and corrosive gases in maritime and pulp processing sites.
The motor frame is developed on a digital multi-physics simulation platform, which analyzes mechanical stresses and thermal fields to optimize heat dissipation fins and structural rib layouts. Cast from high-grade grey cast iron (or structural fabricated steel for larger custom frames), our frames feature high mechanical stiffness and resonance damping. This design reduces motor vibration, extends bearing life, and keeps operational noise well within international standards.
The cooling system consists of an aerodynamically optimized fan, a contoured steel fan hood, structural air-deflecting guide vanes, and integrated acoustic baffles. The design optimizes air intake and minimizes air turbulence, lowering noise from windage loss. The fan cover features an IP22/IP55 protective rating to prevent external debris from entering the fan path, securing reliable cooling airflow in dusty agricultural and outdoor environments.
Our motors carry certifications from major global authorities, simplifying approval processes and integration with local regulatory frameworks.
To support Uruguay's national energy efficiency regulations, our motors align with the testing requirements of the Unidad Reguladora de Servicios de Energía y Agua (URSEA) and LATU (Laboratorio Tecnológico del Uruguay). We provide all necessary documentation to simplify customs clearance and verify compliance with Mercosur harmonized electrical standards.
Our network ensures fast delivery, localized engineering consulting, and robust support for your operations.
Tailored motor designs optimized for the country's primary economic and utility sectors.
Driving chemical feed pumps, pulp agitators, log chippers, and boiler draft fans at sites in Fray Bentos, Conchillas, and Paso de los Toros. These applications require high duty-cycles and protection against corrosive vapors.
Powering grain conveyors, grain dryers, and sorting screens in Soriano and Río Negro, as well as washdown-proof motors for pasteurizers and homogenizers at local dairy facilities.
Supporting OSE's municipal pumping networks and the port operations in Montevideo. These settings demand highly efficient, VFD-driven vertical pump motors capable of continuous, variable flow rates.
As Uruguay moves forward with its Second Energy Transition—focusing on decarbonized transport, smart grids, and green hydrogen—industrial motor systems are shifting toward smart, high-efficiency architectures.
Our R&D team is driving this transition by introducing specialized digital and electrical advancements:
We are expanding the use of SynRM (Synchronous Reluctance Motors) and PM (Permanent Magnet) technologies, which reduce rotor heating losses and achieve IE5 efficiencies without relying on rare-earth magnets.
We supply built-in IoT vibration and temperature sensors, allowing operators to monitor motor parameters in real time and schedule maintenance based on actual wear data to prevent unexpected shutdowns.
Our factories focus on reducing carbon emissions by using recycled raw materials for frame castings and optimizing manufacturing processes to minimize scrap copper during winding.

We supply low-voltage motors wound for standard Uruguayan industrial distribution grids, primarily 380V/220V at 50Hz, with tolerances designed to handle typical grid fluctuations (+/-10%). We also supply NEMA configuration models at 460V/230V 60Hz for direct replacement in imported equipment.
Our motors feature cast iron housing, specialized internal VPI varnishing, and IP55/IP56 ingress ratings. We use double-shielded, regreasable bearings and condensation drain plugs to prevent moisture buildup within the stator enclosure.
Yes. All our low-voltage motors (IE3, IE4, and PMSM series) are designed to handle the voltage spikes of modern VFDs. We use phase-to-phase insulation paper and Class F/H insulation, and we offer insulated bearings to protect against shaft currents.
Absolutely. Our IE3, IE4, and IE5 motor classes comply with national energy labeling standards. We provide certified laboratory test data (IEEE 112B or IEC 60034-2-1) to verify performance values.
Through Wolong Nanyang CNE and Morley, we supply a range of explosion-proof motors (including Ex d, Ex de, and Ex tb designs). These are suitable for hazardous zones in grain processing mills, fuel depots, and chemical plants, carrying ATEX and IECEx certifications.
Standard motors can be supplied quickly from centralized global warehouses. Custom configurations or large orders are shipped directly from our factories to the Port of Montevideo, with typical shipping times of 35 to 50 days.
