CE Certified Electric Motor Replacement & Engineering Solutions

Global Industrial Power Integration, Hazardous Location Compliance, and System Retrofitting for Premium High-Efficiency Asynchronous & PMSM Motors

Global Electric Motor Retrofitting & Replacement Drivers

Analyzing procurement expectations, regulatory compliance, and carbon footprint reduction strategies for modern industries.

System Energy Optimization

Global industrial operations consume over 40% of standard grid power through electric motor systems. Upgrading older, inefficient motors to state-of-the-art IE4 and IE5 standards dramatically reduces operational expenses and keeps facilities aligned with localized net-zero parameters.

Compliance & Risk Mitigation

Replacing standard utility motors in heavy processing domains (such as refineries, mining operations, or chemical processing environments) requires deep adherence to strict global benchmarks: CE mark, ATEX directives, and IECEx certifications for explosive dust and gas threats.

Interchangeability & Dimensions

A primary friction point in electric motor replacement is mechanical footprint configuration. Our optimized designs support precise direct fitments, ensuring matching shaft heights, bolt circles, flange configurations, and terminal box locations to replace legacy units with zero downtime.

Multi-National Brands and Technologies

By bringing historic entities like Brook Crompton, Schorch, Laurence Scott, and ATB under the Wolong umbrella, we've established a global knowledge center. The team combines Laurence Scott’s expertise in low starting currents with Schorch’s deep understanding of critical marine and refinery processes, offering customers high-quality electrical engineering solutions across international borders.

Additionally, with our joint developments alongside OLI in vibration motor manufacturing and GE in heavy-duty commercial motor drives, we deliver exceptional reliability to users managing bulk material sorting, mineral extraction, and steel processing.

Engineering Anatomy of Premium Replacement Motors

A closer look at the key component structures designed for extended service life in demanding industrial applications.

Explosion proof motor rotor construction

High-Dynamic Balanced Rotor Systems

Our rotors feature robust squirrel cage geometries, utilizing premium cast-aluminum cores for smaller applications, produced via centrifugal casting or high-pressure die-casting. This single-piece construction integrates both bars and end rings, delivering high mechanical strength and stable torque output.

For high-capacity, high-torque systems, we use heavy-duty copper bars with reliable mechanical bracing and welded end-ring designs. High-speed rotors also feature custom alloy retaining rings, ensuring dynamic stability and preventing conductor deformation under high rotational stress.

VPI Process & Class H Insulation Stators

The stator windings are wound using high-grade polyester-imid or polyamide-imid enameled wires, insulated with premium-grade glass-backed mica tapes. The assembled core then undergoes a comprehensive Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) cycle using solventless epoxy resins.

This process eliminates microscopic air pockets in the slots, creating a solid, moisture-resistant block with excellent dielectric strength and thermal dissipation properties. The insulation system is rated Class F or Class H, providing an ample safety margin against temperature spikes.

Cast iron motor frame construction

Optimized Cast Iron Frames

Developed using comprehensive multi-physics structural and thermal flow simulations, our motor frames are constructed from high-tensile cast iron or fabricated steel plates. This ensures maximum rigidity, high resonance isolation, and structural stability against pipe-end loads and external shocks.

The external cooling fins are optimized for efficient airflow, helping to maintain uniform temperature distribution and reduce thermal gradients that can shorten bearing life.

Low-Noise High-Efficiency Cooling Fan Systems

Our low-noise cooling systems include aerodynamically optimized fan shrouds, directional guide cylinders, and specialized acoustic dampeners. Designed for bidirectional operation, the fan geometry reduces air turbulence and energy losses, keeping noise levels well within strict workplace standards.

With an IP22/IP55 rated protective mesh, the intake system prevents foreign particles from entering, ensuring consistent cooling performance in dusty environments.

Expert Knowledge Base & FAQ

Addressing key engineering considerations, compliance standards, and technical questions about electric motor replacements.

What parameters must be verified when replacing an older motor with a high-efficiency IE3 or IE4 model?
Key factors include physical dimensions (shaft diameter, center height, and mounting bolt spacing), starting current characteristics (as higher efficiency motors often draw higher inrush currents), and speed-torque curves. It is also important to match load inertia and ensure the cooling method meets the application's operating conditions.
What is the difference between ATEX and IECEx certifications for explosion-proof replacement motors?
ATEX is a mandatory EU directive focused on worker safety and equipment protection in explosive atmospheres within Europe. IECEx is an international certification scheme designed to harmonize standards globally. Many of our motors, including the WOLONG Nanyang series, carry dual ATEX and IECEx certification to support global compliance.
Are WOLONG motors suitable for VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) operation?
Yes. Series like the YBBP, WEPM, and TBVF are designed specifically for variable frequency drive operation. They feature reinforced insulation systems (typically Class F or H) and optional insulated bearings or grounding brushes to mitigate the risk of shaft currents.
Why is DNV Type Approval important for marine electric motors?
DNV Type Approval confirms that the motor design complies with strict international marine safety standards. Our YQ Series motors carry this certification, demonstrating their ability to operate reliably in humid, high-saline marine environments under constant vibration.
