In 2015, Wolong integrated China Wolong Electric Nanyang Explosion-Proof Group Co., Ltd (CNE), China's largest scientific research and production base for explosion-proof motors. CNE designs are key components in high-risk petro-chemical, mining, and military projects.
This capability was expanded in 2018 through a commercial relationship with General Electric (GE) Industrial Motors, combining Wolong's manufacturing scale with GE's heavy industrial design standards.

Engineered with materials designed for performance and reliability in demanding industrial environments.
Our rotors feature a precision squirrel-cage design utilizing centrifugal aluminum casting or high-pressure die-casting. This process fuses the rotor bars and end rings into a single piece, eliminating joint weaknesses and ensuring uniform magnetic performance.
For high-capacity, high-voltage applications, we use hand-inserted copper bar rotors featuring advanced end-ring welding and protective rings. This design prevents mechanical distortion under extreme centrifugal force, high transient torques, and variable speed operation.
The stator coil windings are wrapped in high-mica-content tapes, polyester film, and glass-cloth backing. They undergo the Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) process to ensure complete resin penetration, eliminating microscopic air voids.
This process results in a high-density, moisture-resistant winding assembly with Class F or Class H thermal ratings. The insulation system is designed to handle high-voltage surges, transient spikes from VFD switching, and acidic or corrosive atmospheres.
Using digital multiphysics modeling, finite element analysis (FEA), and fluid dynamics, the high-tensile cast iron (or fabricated steel) frames are designed with optimal heat dissipation fins and structural stiffness.
The design ensures low vibration amplitudes, high mechanical shock absorption, and quiet operation by positioning natural resonance frequencies away from typical operational speed ranges.
The low-noise ventilation system integrates an air-guide cylinder, protective window screens, and internal silencer plates. The side-entry air inlet reduces back-pressure and aerodynamic turbulence, minimizing noise and energy loss.
Fitted with an IP22 protective screen that prevents accidental contact with the rotating fan blades, this design meets demanding industrial environmental standards.

TESTSAFE Mining
Wolong's flameproof (Ex d), increased safety (Ex e), positive-pressure (Ex p), and dust ignition-proof (Ex t) motors carry complete ATEX and IECEx certification. This enables integration into petrochemical plants, chemical processing facilities, and offshore rigs across the European Union and global markets.
To comply with North American standards, our low-voltage and medium-voltage motors undergo UL (Underwriters Laboratories) and CSA testing. Performance verification includes efficiency mapping, locked-rotor torque testing, and insulation system qualification.
All manufacturing bases operate under ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems. Processes from raw materials sourcing to CNC machining and balancing tests are tracked to ensure product traceability and quality consistency.
The TESTSAFE certification enables Wolong mining motors to operate in Australian underground coal mines. This certification verifies that our heavy-duty conveyor motors withstand high starting torque requirements and volatile coal dust environments.
Providing engineered drive solutions across major global process industries.
Explosion-proof motors drive main pipelines, hydrocarbon compressors, and high-pressure injection pumps. Positive pressure (Ex p) and flameproof designs isolate electrical components from volatile surrounding gases.
Morley and CNE-certified conveyor motors deliver the torque profiles required to start fully loaded slurry systems, coal crushers, and skip hoists under high thermal and mechanical loads.
Wolong provides specialized marine solutions, including low-noise electric outboard motors (40kW and above) and heavy auxiliary generators designed to operate reliably in high-humidity, high-salinity marine environments.

Developing next-generation electric motor technologies focused on efficiency and smart diagnostics.
To further reduce industrial power consumption, Wolong's R&D centers are developing IE5 ultra-premium efficiency Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) and Synchronous Reluctance Motors (SynRM). These designs reduce rotor losses, allowing for smaller, lighter motor designs that deliver high torque across their entire speed range.
Our future product lines feature integrated smart sensor arrays that monitor winding temperatures, bearing vibration signatures, and insulation resistance in real time. These sensors connect to cloud-based diagnostic platforms, enabling predictive maintenance schedules to minimize unplanned downtime in critical operations.
To support operations in extreme climates, we are engineering motors designed for ambient temperatures from -60°C to +55°C. These designs utilize specialized frame alloys, synthetic low-temperature lubricants, and advanced space-heater systems to ensure reliable startup and operation in Arctic and desert environments.
Technical answers to help buyers, engineers, and project managers select the right motor.
ATEX is a mandatory European Union directive applicable to all electrical equipment operated in hazardous zones. It includes both technical requirements and quality assurance audits. IECEx is an international certification scheme designed to facilitate global trade in equipment for explosive atmospheres. While ATEX is legally required in Europe, IECEx is widely accepted globally in regions without localized directive structures, such as parts of Asia and Australia.
VPI ensures that the insulating varnish penetrates deep into the stator core winding slots. By placing the winding in a vacuum before applying pressure, air pockets are removed. This improves heat dissipation, provides high mechanical rigidity against magnetic force vibrations, and protects the winding from moisture and corrosive chemical agents, extending the service life of high-voltage systems.
Under international standard IEC 60034-30-1, IE3 designates Premium Efficiency, IE4 designates Super Premium, and IE5 represents Ultra Premium. Each efficiency step reduces internal energy losses by approximately 15% to 20%. IE5 motors utilize advanced permanent magnet designs or synchronous reluctance configurations to minimize rotor losses, providing high energy savings in continuous-duty applications like water pumps and industrial fans.
Positive-pressure (Ex p) protection maintains an overpressure of protective gas (clean air or inert gas) inside the motor enclosure relative to the surrounding atmosphere. This pressure prevents external flammable gases or dust from entering the housing. If internal pressure drops below the specified safety limit, monitoring systems trigger an alarm or automatically cut power to prevent ignition risk.
Wolong designs and tests its mining motors to meet the requirements of specialized regional testing bodies, such as Australia's TESTSAFE. These certificates verify that the motor enclosures, terminal box volumes, seal integrity, and spark-free properties comply with coal mine safety standards, enabling direct integration into heavy-duty underground conveyor systems.
