Shaanxi Nanfang Motor Technology Co., Ltd is the authorized distributor of Wolong. Wolong Electric Drive Group Co., Ltd was founded in 1984 and successfully listed in 2002 (code SH600580). After more than 30 years of rapid development, Wolong operates 3 manufacturing bases, 39 factories, and 4 major R&D centers worldwide.
Wolong has always focused on the manufacture of advanced motors and industrial drive control systems, committed to a global brand strategy, making Wolong a global leader in R&D, technologies, process development, manufacturing, and distribution.
Providing turnkey power solutions engineered for absolute reliability under hazardous conditions and heavy-duty operation cycles.
Consolidating century-old international brands to offer unmatched technology, production reliability, and engineering expertise.
Wolong has established state-of-the-art motor and drive control R&D centers in China, Europe, and Japan, complemented by our Shanghai Central Research Institute. We lead the industry in exploring vector drives, high-frequency harmonics suppression, and structural mechanics optimization, ensuring our customized OEM projects reach peak international performance levels.
By integrating historical global giants, Wolong boasts a collection of legendary industry brands: Brook Crompton (100+ years of energy efficiency), Laurence Scott (low starting current specialty designs), Schorch (heavy-duty system integration), ATB (premier European industrial motor designs), Morley (extreme duty underground mining drives), and OLI (global market-leader in industrial vibration systems).
As the successor and operator of the renowned Nanyang Explosion-proof Group (CNE), we control China's largest and most advanced R&D base for hazardous-environment electrical machinery. Our explosion-proof products achieve unprecedented thermal dissipation safety and structural integrity under high-pressure gas mixtures.
Modern heavy industries are undergoing a major transition driven by decarbonization, digitalization, and functional safety standards. Electric motors account for over 65% of all industrial electrical energy consumption. Consequently, updating infrastructure to use higher efficiency classes (IE3, IE4, IE5) is no longer just a regulatory compliance matter, but a primary requirement for operational survival.
Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) technology has become the core standard for large-scale municipal, maritime, and oil and gas processing stations. By adjusting torque output to match real-time requirements, system engineers save substantial amounts of energy. However, running motors on frequency converters introduces risks, such as harmonic currents and electrical discharge wear on bearings.
Wolong addresses these challenges through integrated structural simulations and specialized winding designs (such as using insulation systems with corona resistance). This approach guarantees that our custom motor designs operate safely and reliably, even when subjected to the high-voltage spikes associated with high-frequency IGBT converters.
China's manufacturing ecosystem is built on integrated supply chains, automated precision machining, and specialized labor clusters. At Shaanxi Nanfang Motor Technology Co., Ltd, we leverage this model to optimize every step of production. Our facility groups have integrated raw materials processing, silicon steel sheet lamination, custom copper casting, and fully automated wire winding systems into a single regional network.
Our production workflow utilizes advanced Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) equipment and automated balancing tools, ensuring consistent quality while significantly shortening lead times.
Furthermore, our testing facilities are certified to carry out official rating assessments for UL, CSA, and Testsafe standards. By performing final mechanical and electrical load testing in-house, we eliminate transit delays and ensure that all machinery is ready for immediate field installation.
How Wolong integrated premier global electric engineering brands to create an industrial powerhouse.
Acquisition of ATB Group (Austria): Wolong acquired 97.94% of the ATB Group, gaining access to premier European motor manufacturing capabilities. This acquisition integrated the Morley brand (renowned for heavy mining equipment) and Laurence Scott (noted for low starting current systems and naval engineering).
Integration of Schorch & Brook Crompton: By acquiring Schorch, Wolong added high-power drive systems for petrochemical and steel processing plants to its lineup. Integrating Brook Crompton expanded our low- and medium-voltage portfolio with high-efficiency motor options.
Acquisition of Nanyang CNE & GE Motor: In 2015, Wolong integrated Nanyang Explosion-Proof Group, China's leading developer of explosion-proof technologies. In 2018, Wolong acquired General Electric's (GE) Commercial & Industrial Motors division, incorporating GE's advanced design systems and heavy industrial experience.
An engineering breakdown of the structural components that define our high-performance electric motors.
Our rotors feature a robust squirrel-cage configuration. Depending on the size of the motor, we use either centrifugal casting or high-pressure die-casting to integrate the rotor bars and end rings into a solid assembly. For large-scale industrial motors, we employ copper bar rotors with reinforced end-ring welding. A high-strength retaining ring prevents deformation during high-speed operation, ensuring stable and reliable performance.
Stator coils are wrapped with high-mica insulation tapes, backed by polyester film and glass cloth. Following winding, the stator core undergoes a full Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) process. The result is a solid, moisture-resistant insulation system with high thermal stability and dielectric strength, capable of withstanding harsh electrical environments.
All motor frames are designed using multi-physics structural and fluid simulations. Constructed from high-tensile cast iron or welded steel, the frame provides robust physical protection, optimized heat dissipation channels, and structural dampening to minimize vibration levels and protect internal components.
The low-noise ventilation system consists of an aerodynamic shroud, an air guide cylinder, protective screens, and sound-absorbing silencer plates. Featuring a side-entry layout, the hood minimizes turbulence and noise from cooling airflow. Rated to IP22, the shroud prevents debris ingress and contact with the fan blades.
Our products carry comprehensive certifications, enabling compliance and seamless integration in major industrial markets worldwide.

How our specialized drive designs are deployed across diverse global operations.
Saltwater, high humidity, and constant vibration present severe operational challenges for electric motors. Our marine motors carry DNV Type Approval, featuring IP56 or IP66 enclosures, stainless steel shaft ends, anti-condensation heaters, and specialized offshore coatings to resist salt spray corrosion.
Operating in environments with coal dust and methane gas requires heavy flameproof enclosures. Working closely with our Morley mining line, we supply heavy-duty cast-iron flameproof conveyor motors capable of handling high starting torque and thermal loads, fully certified for underground environments.
In refineries handling volatile gases, preventing ignition sources is critical. We provide positive-pressure shell motors (Ex p) and dust-ignition-proof motors (Ex t) that isolate the internal electrical components from ambient explosive mixtures, supporting continuous refinery operations.
For major municipal ventilation projects, we offer high-temperature fire motors (WXF series) designed to operate continuously under normal conditions and run reliably at elevated temperatures during emergency building smoke extraction.
