Engineered for high starting torque, thermal stability, and dynamic variable-frequency performance in hazardous and heavy-duty setups.
Across the worldwide heavy industrial landscape, electric motors account for more than 70% of all electrical energy consumed by machinery. In megawatt-level operations—such as oil and gas refining, deep mining excavation, thermal power cycle piping, and heavy chemical fluid transportation—the selection of robust electrical drive systems is the primary differentiator between sustained operational profitability and catastrophic plant downtime.
Today's procurement strategies have evolved past upfront capital expense metrics. Global engineering procurement and construction (EPC) conglomerates are focusing intensely on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), demanding compatibility with variable frequency drives (VFD) to save energy, and requiring strict compliance with hazardous location certifications like ATEX, IECEx, and region-specific standards like CSA and TestSafe.
A synergistic alliance bridging premium Chinese engineering with century-old European electrical craftsmanship.

China's industrial landscape has transitioned from assembly-focused manufacturing to a high-end, digitally integrated model. At Wolong's state-of-the-art facilities in China, this transformation is characterized by vertical integration, automated precision, and advanced testing setups.
By keeping core processes—such as stator coil winding, rotor casting, multi-physics digital simulation, and Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI)—entirely in-house, the factories eliminate external component delays. This comprehensive ecosystem allows us to achieve shorter production lead times compared to typical Western competitors, without compromising on quality.
Three core pillars of Nanfang & Wolong's commitment to industrial reliability, safety, and operational continuity.
Fully compliant with international explosion protection guidelines. Built to perform reliably in petrochemical, oil and gas, and deep mining environments classified as Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 21, and Zone 22.
Offering options in IE3, IE4, and advanced IE5 efficiencies. Our Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) are engineered to reduce carbon footprints and optimize power factors under partial loads.
An expansive range of low-voltage and high-voltage three-phase induction machines. Engineered to power heavy machinery, including high-inertia fans, slurry pumps, screw compressors, and main mine exhaust systems.
A closer look at the advanced materials and mechanical designs that deliver reliable, long-term performance.
Featuring a robust squirrel cage design with cast aluminum construction. Produced via centrifugal casting or high-pressure die-casting to integrate the rotor bars and end rings into a solid, balanced component. For high-power ratings, we employ copper bar rotors featuring custom brazing and mechanical retaining rings to counter high centrifugal forces and mechanical stress during start-ups.
Woven with high-purity copper conductors insulated with polyester film and structured glass cloth. Incorporates low-powder or medium-powder mica tape with high mica content. Following precise slot winding, the complete stator assembly undergoes a full Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) cycle, creating a solid, moisture-resistant insulation system with excellent thermal conductivity (Class F/H).
Our motor frames are engineered using a digital design platform that simulates electromagnetic, structural, and thermal parameters. Constructed from premium, high-strength cast iron or fabricated structural steel, the frame provides robust structural redundancy and heat dissipation. Optimized cooling fins help isolate natural frequencies, minimizing overall vibration.
A low-noise aerodynamic cooling system featuring a rigid fan cover body, air guide cylinder, protective mesh window, and acoustic silencer panels. The side-entry air intake profile reduces turbulence and limits acoustic propagation. The system is rated IP22, keeping operators safe while maintaining cooling airflow.
Our motors are certified to cross international trade barriers and meet the safety requirements of major markets.

Navigating the shift toward smarter, more efficient, and connected industrial drive systems.
Integrating vibration sensors and thermal probes directly on the motor frame allows for predictive maintenance, helping operators detect early signs of bearing wear or coil degradation to prevent unplanned shutdowns.
Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSMs) offer high efficiency and torque density, enabling energy savings in variable-load systems compared to standard induction motors.
Upgrading systems to meet IE4 and IE5 efficiency standards helps reduce carbon emissions, assisting industrial facilities in meeting regional environmental regulations.
Technical insights to assist procurement managers and systems engineers with installation and design specifications.
Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) extracts air and moisture from the stator slots under vacuum. Resin is then introduced and pressurized, curing into a dense, void-free matrix that improves heat dissipation, resists moisture, and prevents electrical discharge within the coil insulation.
Ex d (flameproof) enclosures are designed to contain internal explosions without propagating flame to the surrounding atmosphere. Ex e (increased safety) focuses on preventing arcs, sparks, or hot surfaces under normal and overload conditions. Ex nA (non-sparking) is designed specifically for Zone 2 environments where spark hazards are minimized during normal operation.
Copper bar rotors offer higher electrical conductivity and lower thermal expansion, reducing rotor losses. They are suitable for high-starting-torque or high-inertia applications, and allow for copper-bar replacement if repair is needed.
VFDs can introduce voltage spikes (dV/dt) that strain insulation systems. To prevent degradation, variable-frequency motors are equipped with reinforced phase insulation, insulated bearings, or grounding rings to counter common-mode shaft currents.
Mining motors exported to Australia must comply with TestSafe standard certifications. Motors must pass explosive gas and dust ingress tests, along with spark tests on all dynamic seal pathways, to ensure safe operation in underground coal mines.
Unlike standard induction motors, PMSMs eliminate rotor excitation losses because magnetic fields are generated by rare-earth magnets. This helps maintain high efficiency across a broad speed and load range, which is beneficial for systems running at partial capacity.
